Joan As Policewoman - Eternal Flame

This JOAN AS POLICE WOMAN thing is steadily baffling me into submission. I expected to hate this single 'Eternal Flame' but after The Collectors my mind has been wired into some downtempo lounge setting where the swooping layered gospel vocal feel of this odd tune leaves me quietly impressed. It's way beyond sappy singer songwriter gear & although pretty muso sounding, It genuinely has a bit of verve & soul. There's this airy, breathy feel to the production that allows all the instruments to blend gorgeously. The whole thing stands confidently alongside the likes of Cat Powers' The Greatest' with it's shimmering MOR feel. Never thought I'd say that. Ahem. Cheap as chips 3 track CD single includes a David Bowie cover 'Sweet Thing' plus a highly limited 7" through Reveal.
