What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Phil feeling happy.

Speaking of noise one of the early pioneers of such is DEAD C. Messrs Morley, Yates and Russell made a right old cocking racket over in New Zealand long before Peter Jackson and his truckload of orks arrived.. Ba Da Bing have a retrospective called Van, Erudite & Stupid spread over 2 lovely discs. I used to have loads of records by these guys and I gave up the ghost some time back when I found 'em too far too difficult for my fragile tiny mind. So with ears afresh I'm hear again and I have to say the earlier stuff on the disc sounds exactly like early Hood. It's astonishing.... I never realised! As they progress through the years (the comp spans from 88 to 2003) the tunes get less poppy and well...... less tune like. Much noisier and the sticker on the front saying for fans of Wolf Eyes and Sunn O))) seems like less of a marketing ploy now. Very very interesting indeed.....

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.

'Why would I want to go and see a film about an Ewok and a dinosaur?'
