The Hot Puppies - Under The Crooked Moon

Under The Crooked Moon by The Hot Puppies

The Hot Puppies. Sounds like a perverted sexual metaphor. As it happens they sound like one of these modern "Sleeperbands", ie, totally competent at providing you with impassioned girl fronted indie anthems yet can you remember who the hell they are when you boogie on down at yr local disco? 'Green Eyeliner' is the highlight on ''Under the Crooked Moon', their debut. Her voice is more Harvey than Wener mind, and they have an undeniable amount of class & verve over the course of these 13 tightly executed tunes. Possibly a more sprightly Drugstore spring to mind in a couple of places although could they reach the giddy heights straddled by their old Welsh comprades Catatonia? Id say for this album would please fans of the likes of The Long Blondes definately! CD only on Fierce Panda
