Thee Sheffield Phonographic Corporation wouldn't be a label you would associate with releasing stuff by electronic artists. Behold Thee Sheffield Radiophonic Workshop. 'An esoteric collection of electronic artists from sheffield' This really does what it says on the packet although it still has its roots in indie so it won't alienate the labels fans. The stuff on here is kitch, tongue in cheek cheesy stuff. Just take The Lovers' over romantic approach thats oozing with sexual innuendo or the childish Michael J Coxx for example. The highlight for me on here is the contribution from Conrad. 'Spill' is a decent synth pop track with nods to Depeche Mode. Also feature Kings Have Long Arms, Wrong Toy, The Pony Harvest, Darren Chuck, The Box Set, Heart Yeah and more. Good fun.Be the first to review this record.
