Black Vomit by Wolf Eyes & Anthony Braxton

At last somthing I'm actually excited about hearing...The brilliantly titled 'Black Vomit' is of course the Wolf Eyes & Anthony Braxton collaboration which was recorded at Festival International De Musique Actuelle De Victoriaville in 2005. When I first I heard that these two super powers of noise / improv were meeting I was suprised but then when I thought about it it made sense because John Olson's Sax work is not a million miles from what Braxton does. You get two pieces in total, 'The Mangler' is 27minutes of brooding, sinister nightmarish audio, powerfull and intense. Braxton's Sax is positively disturbing. Think of John Zorn but more restrained and menacing.. close you're eyes and you can imagine bad things happening. Plenty of electronics and metalic sounds to satisfy the more adventurous listeners among you. Recommended on Les Disques Victo.
