What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Brian feeling happy.

Wait all my life for good band names and then none come along all at once. My girlfriend is a self confessed pirate you know. She has a cutlass, a parrot & says "arrrr" lots. And sails a big battered ship with a huge, flapping jolly roger. Wonder what she'd make of Pete & the Pirates? She's probably have 'em walk the plank but I'd be there to save them & their deliciously perky indie, dripping old skool charm & spilling with crap inserts housed in hand stamped paper bags. This is the DIY revolt. Every bastard does 7"s these days. They're the new CD.. So the CD is therefore the new 7", reclaimed by scruffy studenty types with no money but some cracking little tunes. 6 Songs spilling over with strong harmonies, trad indie shapes with occasional elements of krautrock circa Camden '94 mixing it with flecks of classic yank rock (VU, Pixies, Dinosaur Jr etc) & droney spacepop. There's 2 different CDs in total, the other is a 7 tracker called 'Wait Stop Begin', all handmade, on Stolen recordings. Well worth checking out!

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.

'Come yodeling in the canyon.'
