Finally from me this week is the second installment in the Tectonic Plate 10" series. This edition represents the Northern sound of dubstep with Manchester's Mark One (Of Planet Mu fame) and DQ1 a.k.a Oris Jay from Sheffield who is apparently Mark One's Mentor and inspired him to produce this dark post-garage sound. DQ1's 'Wear The Crown' has a sample that's been used in hundreds of jungle tracks but I don't know what its called. Anyway its a slow, grimey, dark futuristic track that's sure to test the stamina of your bassbins. Mark One's contribution 'Slang' is true to his solo work which is a little different to the stuff he does with Virus Syndicate. Its a pretty simple track really and more of a head nodder than a floor stomper. There's a 'Gangster' sample thrown in to keep the vibe 'street'. I can't help but feel the artists involved with both releases so far with exception of DQ1 are holding back there better tracks for there own labels and just contributing stuff they've had lying around. Right I'm off to the chippy.Be the first to review this record. Best reviewer each month gets £10 off their next order!
