Not over familiar with Lupen Crook. His debut album 'Accidents Occur Whilst Sleeping' starts somewhere between Kristen Hersh's 'Strings' EP & Bright Eyes tortured squealings on the opener '6=8...the Remainder of the Formula Self' Jesus!!, what's with the pretentious titles you plank? At least the music is REALLY interesting, if somewhat spazmodic & schizoid. 'Here To B Friends' could be the missing link between Long Fin Killie & Clor. IMPOSSIBLE to pigeonhole, this act, as their songwriting is utterly eclectic beyond belief. Quirky post acoustic manic struma-pop, A waltzing & twirling vaudeville number, intense acid folk, the list goes on. There's summat for everyone on here. His voice grates a tad occasionally, but the sheer talent, range of ideas & self belief is utterly jawdropping. If you like adventurous modern pop music screaming with ideas, gothic drama, fresh prog touches & passion then this is the album for you totally. I may even take a copy myself! CD only on Tap & Tin.
