What is it about Hope Of the States?. I dunno! They do actually have their own sound albeit to me, a straighter take on what Dawn Of The Replicants were trying to achieve years ago with a bit of post rock sonic gold dust sprinkled on to keep the Mogwai fans happy. If you ain't checked these yet then you'll probably hear bits of Echo & the Bunnymen & Radiohead in there as well as a chink of Muse style bombast. And big swathes of noisy anthemic guitar. 'Left' appears to be a VERY accomplished follow up to 'The Lost Riots', less pompous & more direct, with better, punchy songs. Thanks Phil for helping with that.
