It is my considerable pleasure to be writing for you today. Let me start with what I guess will be my favourite thing of this session. It is Juana Molina's new album on Domino. I've just come in this morning and found young Philip chilling out to this lovely piece of musical blanket. Reading all the quotes form the sticker we have, " like a recently awakened Aphex Twin in a warm snooze mode" Q magazine. "sonic magic from a major talent" Uncut magazine. "A masterpiece for dreamers everywhere" Mixmag. They've done it for me really. Buenos Aires born Molina takes the traditional Latino vocal lines, lilts and instruments and brings it all forward using the technological benefits of modern times. The packaging is an expensive job with holes and sparkles which must show the belief in her from Domino (or she's a little princess and they cant say no).
