New album by Boxcutter and its a winner this for sure. 'Oneiric' is 12 tracks of bowel rupturing sub bass frequencies, post drum and bass breaks and lush atmospherics. I've been somewhat disillusioned with some of the more stripped down minimal plodding dubstep from recent weeks but this is far more interesting, mixing up IDM, Dub, Hip Hop and abstract Drum And Bass to great effect. Very clever indeed. CD only at the moment with wax to follow. Heavy shit. Also in this week on the unstoppable Planet Mu label are two new 12"s from Manchester's finest exponents of the Grime genre, Virus Syndicate. Mark One and his crew of razor sharp MC's come correct with some dope remixes of 'Ready To Learn' and 'Major list MC's' utilising rave stabs, pitched up vocals etc. If you liked the album then check these out. 'Ready To Learn' is more accessible than their previous nasty stuff. Maybe they're going soft? We still have a couple of the vinyl LPs in stock at the cheap campaign price but be quick!!ARTIST: Boxcutter
