Moving on to another prolific producer, Kieren Hebden seems like he's on these pages every week, when does he find time to sleep, or go to the toilet. I wonder if he wears a nappy when he's making records? Remember 'The Exchange Session Vol.1' from a few months back? Well behold! The sequel has landed from the big intergalactic Jazz spaceship. This is of course himself tweaking the electronics collaborating with Steve Reid on drums and percussion. Reid is an accomplished percussionist who has played with Legends such as James Brown, Fela Kuti, and Sun Ra. The lads here are dissin' Jazz but I'm a fan of Miles Davis and John Coltrane so I'm not adverse to this stuff at all. These recordings again are live from the same improv session with no overdubs and vary from the sublime to the intense. Worth checking if you're into Sun Ra, Four Tet or experimental Free Jazz from labels like Impulse. CD/LPBe the first to review this record. Best reviewer each month gets £10 off their next order!
