What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Ant feeling happy.

Ant here having just eating an almighty giant chocolate chunk cookie which rather aptly leads to my review of the new King Biscuit Time single 'Kwangchow'. This, as you may already know, is the side project of former Beta Band frontman Stephen Mason and not a twenty foot Garibaldi which is a shame. The title track and the B-side are pleasant enough but its the Kwangchow (Doctors Of Love Remix) and Kwangchow (Suicide D.O.G.Z - Faudels Hash Den Remix) on the CD single that stand out for me, the latter having a real druggy atmosphere to it. Again vinyl junkies are losing out on two tracks as its on 7". Why no 12" with all the tracks? Everything is on 7" these days innit. just like...

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.

'if you can’t be the song, let the song be.'
