What we say

Rating: ecstatic This record left our Dominic Wrong feeling ecstatic.

Also the man behind Norman Records told me to tell you the Adrian Crowley CD is back in. Again he was a human I've never heard of but he played me his new album on Ba Da Bing/ Bed of Rockets and once he'd picked me up off the floor I gave him a kiss and ran off with it. I havn't seen him since. It's a gorgeous singer songwriter album recorded by Steven Albino (of Big Black and Tindersticks fame). Phil got in touch with the nice Crowley man (apparently not related to witchy sinsiter pop demon Alesteir Crowley a pop insider told me) and he sent over some of is older releases including a 10" (numbered of 200 copies by pen wielding dwarves) and his first album on CD. Also he managed to twist Mr Crowley's arm into releasing a Whiskey single later on this year. Crikey that's a lot on info in one paragraph. I wish I'd bought my specs....... When You Are Here You Are Family is CD only

Rating: ecstatic This record left our Phil feeling ecstatic.

I got sent a promo of this some time ago and it's really stuck in my head. The new Adrian Crowley CD on Ba Da Bing. Produced by Steve Albini and it's really beautiful singer songwriter stuff but with lush strings and Albini type big drums. The chaps voices gets right under your skin and makes you feel all warm and lovely. When You Are Here You Are family is quite melancholic as well but if you can cope with a bit of misery in your music this is dead on.

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.

I'm gonna tell ya every reason I hate you and get you out of my life.
