After a fairly quiet spell, Planet Mu are churning out a relentless barrage of release at the moment. I'm finding it difficult to keep up. Second album from The Gasman is the latest to land in my pile. I never heard his first album although the title 'Remedial' does make me chuckle. I did hear his Terminal Dusk release and rather liked it, thus I was curious to hear 'This One's For you' (Bless him). The Gasman fits perfectly into the Mu artist roster with his early Aphex / U-ziq sound. Although its not a new sound by any means its quite refreshing after listening to the more Breakcore/ Dubstep/ Jungle oriented sounds of late emmiting from the label. This is more like early Mu. Although there are plenty of breaks shattered and reassembled, rave sounds and mentalism the highlights of the release for me are the lovely melodic synth moments.
