Something less exciting and possibly more on the tedious (for me anyway) front is the 7"/CD by Neon Plastix on Blow Up. Possibly the most contrived and obvious name in the history of music. If that wasn't enough the electro/electrical lead connectors design on the sleeve with pink and green flashes on is so obvious it made me want to eat my own head. Musically it's bouncy electro inspired edgey new wave indie rock which is so unbelievably predictable I've had to eat someone else's head now. Lordy me.... The tune itself isn't that bad and there's nods to Pink Grease and other ubergay® bands I can't be arsed to think of. So not that bad at all..... just mega uber predictable....They released their limited debut PRICK TEASE / NEON INVASION in February which gained support from Steve Lamacq on Radio 1 and Silent Dave on Virgin Xtreme. Since then they’ve been playing up and down the UK along the way bagging supports for The Kooks, White Rose Movement, The Infadels, Klaxons, Robots in Disguise, Test-Icicles, The Duels, The Blood Arm, Good Shoes, Howling Bells, Clor, and The Young Knives. This Summer they played the launch parties for Vice Magazine in both Antwerp and Amsterdam, and have recently been invited to Dublin and Italy. This September they are on their self-titled ‘Tour O’ Doom’ taking in the Barfly venues around the country and then culminating in a show at Club NME at London’s KOKO.
"These Yorkshire disco pop chaps profess to making "music to make girls smile" and while this writer is most definitely in possession of a wang-doodle, these new-wave songs force a grin regardless of gender. An impassioned and feel-good statement of intent." NME
"This one's sure to go mental. Think pop-punk new wave disco floorfiller.." Rough Trade
"Doesn’t it just conjure up the pungent whiff of hair gel and cheap fluorescent spirits?"
