Next comes a CD by Directorsound on Power Shovel Audio. This feller had something on Geographic a while ago. This new one is home made instrumental music that often sounds like the music to some arty film with subtitles. It's a fragile kind of music that builds up slowly with horns layered on top of piano's and where all kinds of things are plucked sometimes with care, sometimes randomly. There's bits of accordion played here and there. It sounds like he's had a weeks free use of a studio containing lots of interesting instruments and he's just kind of wandered round playing tunes on them and recording the results. This is what I like about this record - it has a very random feel, kind of scattershot - but occasionally it comes together in a quite lovely way.Be the first to review this record.
