First up a CD that has impressed all of us here at the towers -it is by David Masson and its a self released thing. It comes in a nice brown card sleeve with a pencil drawing on it. The music is very nice indeed. Masson is some guitar player - he has nimble fingers. The CD consists of 11 compositions with just voice, guitar and the occasional keyboard intervention. The songs here are very strong indeed - the most obvious comparison is the recent Jose Gonzales album but it also brings to mind the complica-folk (now there's a genre) of people such as Gastr del Sol and The James Orr Complex. There's also bits of Radiohead in there and also the melancholic, autumnal compositions of folks like Adrian Crowley. Quality singer songwriter stuff that remains interesting throughout and never even straddles the David Gray line of hell.Be the first to review this record.
