Books On Tape - Dinosaur Dinosaur

Dinosaur Dinosaur by Books On Tape

Another good CD which may just be my ears playing tricks on me & is possibly a complete pile of shit, is Books On Tape's 'Dinosaur Dinosaur' Another charming collection of oblique sound collages that could resemble something as crass as dance music if it weren't made by some madhead on some oddball equipment. I don't know who to compare this berserk album to really. It truly sounds like no-one else & features some goofy, clanking, burbling, clattering, squeaking, meowing & gyrating electronic music that sounds like Half Man Half Biscuit trying to make a rave album. Comparisons have been made to Jackofficers (oldie Buttholes offshoot) The joyous lo-fi style he employs eschews the harsh, serious & nobby IDM tendencies of many of his contemporaries but I could imagine him doing summat for Broklyn Beats. It's called 'Beatpunk' apparently & straddles the the mental side of experimental & the fun side of fundamental.
