I thought Steve Malkmus's last record was a big improvement on his previous efforts. Here's his new single (Baby C'Mon) on a 7" only. If everyone was still into slacker rock then this should be a hit. It's catchy and insistent - quite rocky really. Are holes in the middle of records getting smaller? Well this one was so tight around the spindle that I had trouble getting the thing on the turntable - and getting it off again. Well I have to report that I have just snapped the record in two. I'm not risking it again so I guess I'll never find out how good the B side "Wow Ass Jeans" really is. If anyone wants the snapped copy drop us a line and we'll send you it. I might even sign it.
