Always fancied meeting up with the chap who composes music under the guise of Claro Intelecto. Just to ask him why he ceased producing itchy dark fizzing electrotech & instead forged a career in soundtracking the activities of plankton in wine bars (or "pre clubs" as I believe they now shadily reside under the umbrella of...) A lot of this supposed minimal techno/house stuff is so characterless to my ears, so devoid of any originality, soul or urgency. If you wanna hear minimal techno, go & buy some Jeff Mills classics as all I hear on this new 'Patience' 12" on Modern Love is the sound of someone so desperately trying to emulate the purist legends of yore that he forgets to inject any edge or verve into the mix. Sorry if this offends the rabid IDM obsessives. The album 'Neurofibro' had it's moments but the three tracks here do nish for moi. 'Tis limited so be quick!

About the humble 12":

The 12" is the big brother of records as it's an fatter version of the 7", with a vast scope for an array of remixes and B sides. They are slightly less portable their smaller inched brethren but they're by no means inferior. Often the grooves are spaced wider apart and thus sound much much better. You can fit ample tracks on and if worse comes to worse they make fine plates (should your crockery go awol). Yes, there's a hole but holes are easy to sort out. Once again they're available on many different colours and guises. The best thing about a 12" is the potential vastness of the artwork. Also playable on many speeds!!
