This record left Absinthe feeling unmoved.
I voted "unmoved" because none of the other categories fitted this darkly translucent if disturbing work. It is beautifully structured. Working in the electronic medium this group have produced something structurally so right for the material one can only be in awe of their musical sense. I would have called the work darkly beautiful but it is the stuff of nightmares. One feels verging on difficult interior moments throughout - and should you be one wishing to spice up your dreams with something darkly adventurous, this is an excellent gateway, listened to in the minutes before sleep. For all that it does have ethereally beautiful moments too.
I have long regarded this as one of Current 93's great achievements - a nightmare piece of symphonic proportions. It is unlike anything else they produced though one can see a similar need to adventure in A Little Menstrual Night Music. I should add that this latter is nothing like the Bar Maldoror album, which itself is miles removed from their "mainstream" output (mainsteam as compared to this).
