Deus were a band I used to be very obsessed about indeed. Their first album, early singles and songs like Little Arithmetics were so blindingly good I had to have spare underwear on hand. I kind of lost interest after the last album sucked so I didn't even hear the new album thinking it wouldn't be any better. On playing the new single (7 days 7 Weeks)  though I may well have to check it out cos it's a stunningly catchy tune with hooks that should be made illegal. It's a gentle paced tune along the lines of Little Arithmetics and if there was any justice in the world maybe they'll finally get some success I reckon they've deserved for ages now....Brilliant....

About the humble CD single:

Another digital format and even though they can hold 80 minutes of information (like a CD album would) record companies only fill up a small portion of the disc. Sometimes only 1 or 2 tracks on there totalling 5 minutes or so. It's like going to a restaurant and getting a plate of food with 2 green beans on and wondering where the rest of your meal is. Sometimes they're lovingly packaged though and when the music is good then you're into a winner. Also you get videos on there sometimes which you can watch on your computer. That is excellent.
