What we say This record left our Phil feeling unmoved. Brand new 7" and CDs by The Brakes on Rough Trade called Ring A Ding Ding which at first I thought was dreadful but after a few listens it really gets under your skin. Think somewhere between the stompin' tunes of Roxy Music and early Pixies. Am reasonably impressed.... The B sides (On the CD) are all covers though (Camper Van Beethoven's Shut Us Down) and a cover of Jackson featuring the woman from The Duke Spirit on vocals. Lordy me....

About the humble CD single:

Another digital format and even though they can hold 80 minutes of information (like a CD album would) record companies only fill up a small portion of the disc. Sometimes only 1 or 2 tracks on there totalling 5 minutes or so. It's like going to a restaurant and getting a plate of food with 2 green beans on and wondering where the rest of your meal is. Sometimes they're lovingly packaged though and when the music is good then you're into a winner. Also you get videos on there sometimes which you can watch on your computer. That is excellent.
