Scots laughing boys Arab Strap are back with their millionth album of semen encrusted misanthropy but have actually shocked the (stiff) socks off me by writing some cracking music to accompany the pished up slur of Aidan Moffat, taking time away from his Star Wars collector figures & rigid copies of Fiesta. 'The Last Romance' has an hilarious Catherine Cookson on Berkeley menthol & gin sleeve & features, on initial listen, by far their strongest material to date. Still makes me think of Irvine Welsh having a bad day in the bookies but the tunes are fluid, joyous & produced with a knowing passion. So, all you 'Strappies (tm)! This may just make your year. On Chemikal Chunderhound. (By the way, the limited Dream Sequence 7" sold out on pre-order. We got around a dozen cos they've all gone to Scottish shops. Nationalistic nepotism anyone? Never...Grrrrrr! ;0)
