Adult. (watch that full stop! It bites!!) return with a terrifyingly good new album for Tortoise's Thrill Jockey. The supremely talented Detroit couple make this spindly analogue electro pop that has mutated into a sinister banshee wail of new wave isolation (intermittent New order doom guitar & Siouxsie/Lydon-esque pyrotechnic vox married to these catchy as fudge hooks that are so irresistible) The nearest approximation I can make of their current sound is to blend 'Garlands' era Cocteaus with the scratchy angularity of Erase Errata in my head but then you've got these fascinating electronics underpinning the whole shebang that sound like they've been beamed in from an alternative Sheffield circa 1978. Absolutely bloody excellent!Be the first to review this record. Best reviewer each month gets £10 off their next order!
