Christopher Bissonette - Periphery

Periphery by Christopher Bissonette

My sore throat is starting up again  - just in time to be ill for the weekend. I shouldn't tempt fate but I feel constantly ill nowadays with only brief pockets of well-ness cropping up once in a while. Kranky have been releasing some good stuff this year & their latest offering is by Christopher Bissonnette. It really has been the year of the piano twinkle  - I'm just waiting for the Richard Clayderman revival to start. This CD starts off with a track that would surely make the Now That's What I Call Twinkly Piano Music Vol 1 CD. Thankfully the rest of the album  is not all twinkles (twinkly piano is ok in moderation  but I think there's no more twinkly piano music CD's available than there are pianos). This CD though is full of lovely warm ambient sounds. Think a very ambient Labradford or Harold Budd/ Brian Eno (resorts to reel out old ambient pioneers rather than reviewing the record). It is all rather lovely, kind of like taking a nice warm bath.
