The Scaramanga Six - Cabin Fever

Cabin Fever by The Scaramanga Six

Me. I been wandering like a cloud dude. We're all free living, pot smoking JAZZ freaks in here, y' get me? Huh? Are you my soul brothers & sisters? Oh fer fucks sake, get that christing saxaphone OFF the stereo dude & put some grumbling northern caberet rock on instead! I'm called Brian & one of the best local bands I've been seeing in the toilets of Leeds for years are the wonderful Scaramanga Six. Originally based in Huddersfield, they run the most worthy Wrath records & are the kind of decent & heartwarmingly modest folk that make you proud to be human. 'Cabin Fever' their 3rd CD has landed & is one of my top recommendations of the week. All I'll say is Queens Of the Stone Age, The Fall, The Cardiacs, Faith No More & god knows what else. This 5 piece (??!!) rock in the most bombastic way whilst been totally free of the pretentious trappings of Muse et al. Tongues are definitely firmly in cheek whilst the music is a freewheeling array of taut indie dynamics, grinding alt-rock, faux falsetto vocals & wicked lyrics. They've even been encouraged by the current drummer to re-record a couple of ancient classics from the early days that now sound as powerful as the live counterparts. Just check the single 'Horrible Face'. Genius!
