Venetian Snares - Meathole

Meathole by Venetian Snares

Brian has given me this weeks Venetian Snares album to review. Thanks. Mr Funk is  very prolific but even if he did a thousand albums a second I doubt he'd ever come up with something I particularly liked or wanted to hear again. Anyway this one is called 'Meathole'  -mainly consists of 1000 mph drum and bass  - it spews out beats at roughly a thousand per second, has some bass noises in there to add extra spice. There's always one or 2 decent tracks on Venetian Snares albums that hint at interesting avenues he could take but then its back to the head down no nonsense breakcore boogie. I was thinking the other day that the new Franz Ferdinand single sounds like it was written in real time. I think the same about Venetian Snares at times  - as if he just sits down at his computer - writes the album from beginning to end  - never listens to it again -  sends it out to Mike P with a big note attached saying 'will this do?'. On Planet Mu.
