There's a new 12" EP here from Piano Overlord (aka Scott Herren aka Prefuse 73 aka Savath and Savalas). How does one man have enough time to release all this stuff? Probably because a lot of it is recycled or sub standard. This EP definitely has its merits - you'll recognise the sounds its the classic Prefuse 73 trademark sound - probably with a few less cut ups and chops overlaid with vocals that do their job. I realise that (like an idiot) I've just played the B side first.....so onto the A side which (as tradition should allow) is a lot stronger - the first track is minimalist - just very pretty Rhodes piano over a simple drum loop. The next track is more along the Savath and Savalas lines with acoustic guitars, layers vocals and a bossa nova feel. On Money Studies.Be the first to review this record.
