Mother & The Addicts - Take The Lovers Home Tonight

Take The Lovers Home Tonight by Mother & The Addicts

I heard Mother & the Addicts debut 7" last year & nearly broke it in some kind of misguided indie snobbery hissy fit when it revealed itself to be the vinyl equivalent of herpes. So why WHY THE FUCK am I loving this debut album SO MUCH? Like some kind of new wave psychedelic road pizza of glam disco-rock insanity & gibbering strange-pop nihilism, 'Take The Lovers Home Tonight' blends so many styles into a chaotic mess held together by shedloads of irresistible hooks, punk-funk strutting, ridiculous harmonies & possessed vocals. It's more FUN than you could shake a stick at & utterly demented, like Pink Grease in Studio 54 on a skip of drugs, having a toy fight with Orange Juice. Or perhaps the Rocky Horror Show with Captain Beefheart in the lead role! A true party in your stereo. Album of the week hands down!
