Totally baffling album of the week comes from Field Music. Imagine Shudder to Think's vocalist joining forces with a load of 10cc obsessives sitting in a room studying the art punk dynamics of prime Wire whilst listening to the Beach Boys & Cardinal. Phew!!! Exhausted? This debut is a stunning example of intelligence, passion, pop nous, organic soul & joyful inventive exuberance. Every song gets it's many hooks into your psyche & the vein just gets richer with every listen. One song even begins like 'Fit & Working Again' by The Fall before delving into the warmest celebration of multi layered harmonic genius we've heard for ages. So all the BEST bits of those overblown seventies bands that I hate (but secretly admire) in one 12 track bundle of 2005 ecstasy. All from the man who gave us Little Robot Voice on Static Caravan! CD & Cheap LP on Memphis Ind.1. If only the moon were up
