What we say This record left our Brian feeling happy. The Rakes continue to perplex me by being a different band with every single like they're trying to desperately ft in with what's the most fashionable that week or summat but end up sounding like Squeeze however they try. Problem is, these new wave chameleons also have the knack of writing utterly infectious slabs of indie POP genius & should be adored. They also seem to be on a different label every time too. V2, being their paymasters now, have unleashed 'Work, Work, Work (Pub, Club, Sleep)' as the 4th chart botherer. Roll on the album boys!

About the humble CD single:

Another digital format and even though they can hold 80 minutes of information (like a CD album would) record companies only fill up a small portion of the disc. Sometimes only 1 or 2 tracks on there totalling 5 minutes or so. It's like going to a restaurant and getting a plate of food with 2 green beans on and wondering where the rest of your meal is. Sometimes they're lovingly packaged though and when the music is good then you're into a winner. Also you get videos on there sometimes which you can watch on your computer. That is excellent.
