My favourite single of this week is by Field Music. Now I don't want to shock you here but 10CC's first album is amazing and this sounds EXACTLY EXACTLY like 10CC's debut album. Its prime 70's experimental pop music with piano's, harmonies, chirpy guitars and odd time signatures. The press blurb say it sounds like the Beach Boys playing Wire songs which is a much more acceptable way of saying that it sounds like 10CC. There's' 2 songs on the B side. The first one is my favourite -  it sounds like 10CC covering great lost mid 90's wanderers Insides. Track 3 has some lovely violin. On Memphis Industries.

About the humble CD single:

Another digital format and even though they can hold 80 minutes of information (like a CD album would) record companies only fill up a small portion of the disc. Sometimes only 1 or 2 tracks on there totalling 5 minutes or so. It's like going to a restaurant and getting a plate of food with 2 green beans on and wondering where the rest of your meal is. Sometimes they're lovingly packaged though and when the music is good then you're into a winner. Also you get videos on there sometimes which you can watch on your computer. That is excellent.

'mine's better than yours'
