Thank god for the rich grumble of Stuart A. Staples' debut collection of solo brilliance. His suit has more talent than the satan's turd suckers. 'Lucky Dog Recordings' is what all fans of Tindersticks have been waiting for. A gathering of amazing confessionals & redemption songs from the master of the tortured soul. More in keeping with their classic earlier stuff, spilling with smoky barroom tears & heart bursting melancholy whilst in that great tradition bringing you to your knees with earthy soul & gorgeous, simple arrangements. If you've found some of their stuff a bit water-treading or even too "soul" recently then this will satisfy your primal urges. On initial listen I'll give this album of the week but I feel It may be much more important than that in the long run. Features various 'sticks personnel & Beggars Banquet is the label of love.
