Minotaur Shock
Maritime

This record left our Brian feeling happy.
That Minotaur Shock's a freakin' wierd feller I tell yer. Now minted freshly to 4AD for big whacking arthouse spondoolies, his 2nd album proper, 'Maritime' is interspersed with some really fragrant, pastoral & charming slices of electronic pop genius that sparkle & gleam, wibble & hiccup, gallop & burble & (insert skippy, breathless adjective here) Less twatty than Caritoba & not as paisley jazz summer donkey field as Four Tet, this nonetheless has some INFURIATING moments of absurdly horrible elevator music & bad furniture show-room pop cheese. At least he's showcasing alternative sides to his creative psyche. Absolutely love the artwork though so this total bastard of an album still gets CD of the week.
