Esmerine have a new album out following on from their previous roaring and gorging beast on Resonant. This one is on Madrona records and it you didn't know it's Bruce from Godspeed and someone else. Possibly Dave or Nigel from Godspeed but I'm far too lazy to check and you're probably not that interested. I know I'm not. Maudlin is the key word here. It's very pretty-twinkly, with strings aplenty and it's all rather moving. Moving in the way that gravitates you upstairs to the bathroom medicine cupboard to find that bottle of pills or those razor blades. Still I thoroughly enjoyed this and there are uplifting moments to be had 'tween the swallowing the pills and hacking your arms to bits. I'd say this is most definitely for fans of Rachels, Sylvain Chauveau, Godspeed and bathroom medicine cupboards.Be the first to review this record.
