It's ('Primitive') competent & possibly timeless indie rock, quite mature & classic sounding, unlike the awful scenester bands they get lumped in with. It's not hook filled enough to be particularly memorable but has a nice kind of steady blues/honky-tonk country feel like REM crossed with Television meets Cake (without the comedy icing) as easy & possibly lazy reference points.
