That band I don't like are back. The Mountain Goats continue to tarnish 4ADs reputation with their brand of reedy alt country nerd folk. I'm 3 songs in & all I can still think about is a shitter Waterboys. Just like last time. Jeez. Track 4, 'Dilaudid', is amazing, however, featuring solely insistent strings & an increasingly bitter & frantic vocal rant. The vibe from it bizarrely reminds me of Philip Glass's disembodied reworking of Bowie's 'Heroes' in It's intensity. The rest of the album can go shove it though..
