Is the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion no more? Well they're still going but on their new single I noticed it just said Blues Explosion on the back. Has it been like this for ages and I've only just noticed. The wife bangs on at me for being unobservant. My head could be on fire while crocodiles are snapping at my feet as I'm typing now and I probably wouldn't notice. The 7" of said record features an exclusive Solex mix but if you plump for the tiny CD or enormous 12" you'll get a 2 achingly trendy mixes by !!! and DFA. Bellbottoms it ain't....

About the humble CD single:

Another digital format and even though they can hold 80 minutes of information (like a CD album would) record companies only fill up a small portion of the disc. Sometimes only 1 or 2 tracks on there totalling 5 minutes or so. It's like going to a restaurant and getting a plate of food with 2 green beans on and wondering where the rest of your meal is. Sometimes they're lovingly packaged though and when the music is good then you're into a winner. Also you get videos on there sometimes which you can watch on your computer. That is excellent.
