Havana Guns
She Always Goes Down

This record left our Brian feeling happy.
Cor aren't indie 7"s fun? We have a couple of 'em here, first up one by Havana Guns. This bugger is a Debbie Harry fronting a Scandinavian Strokes type affair. It's their debut & should really appeal to the Concretes/Theaudience fan in you. A simple & catchy sing-a-lang, all minimal skinny tie guitar, warm breezy organ & saccharine lyrics. Secondly is a strange thang on Soul Jazz by two Brazilian bands. As Mercenarias offer up a scratchy post punk affair with a latin twist, imagine Au Pairs being chased down the road by The Flying Burrito Pixies. Fellini have obviously been in love with Factory records since birth. In fact just Manchester circa 1979. A strange, echoy doom laden bass ridden job with Joy Division-esque understated guitar, this really reminds me of early Unrest with the trumpet at the end. Certainly a most worthy curio for the more adventurous New wave fanatic
