Never know what to say about bands like Charalambides. The older I become I increasingly appreciate this kind of spectral, psychedelic experimentation. I can see people getting all goddam spiritual about this stuff. Kranky have CD'd up the bands ultra rare debut into a double disc set & it veers from the sublime to the deafeningly avante garde in the space of one song, to tripped out folk mantras to feedback squalls back to wierd out bagpipe inflected mentalism with a touch of a button. Really beguiling & dare I say it, IMPORTANT gear is this. My mind is opened & letting this music seep in fills the cracks & soothes the soul. Investigate.
