I recall nearly falling off my chair last year when this random 7" by Tom Vek landed in my review pile. 'If I Had Changed My Mind' was the perfect blend of wobbletastic, cranky Beck insanity & off kilter, foot stomping Fall-esque slurring I'd ever heard. So imagine a whole LP of this mans twisted vision. Well It's here now. Virtually uncategorisable is this feller. Watch the stoopid broadsheets & London media muppets desperately try to pigeonhole him. This is deranged post punk funk, grumbling new wave wierdness & skewed 80's pop that basically eats The Bravery, The Killers & all those other hopeless posing bastards & shits them all out into a neat concise diamond encrusted turd of furiously inventive & timeless songwriting. Totally album of the week dudes (& Gang Gang Dance come a really close 2nd) There's even been mention of Japan & Thompson Twins in the office but astoundingly this doesn't matter, remotely....We Have Sound is on LP/CDBe the first to review this record.
