Who didn't like 'Deserter's Songs' by Mercury Rev? Not even me. (oh Fat Barry apparently). I have to say I loved it. But since then - christ its been a lot of old tat and this new single is not really an  exception. Typical mystical lyrics from Jonathan Donahue (who kind of reminds me of Mystic Meg a bit). The tune wanders round like a drunken office worker trying to locate the last bus after a friday night piss up.

About the humble CD single:

Another digital format and even though they can hold 80 minutes of information (like a CD album would) record companies only fill up a small portion of the disc. Sometimes only 1 or 2 tracks on there totalling 5 minutes or so. It's like going to a restaurant and getting a plate of food with 2 green beans on and wondering where the rest of your meal is. Sometimes they're lovingly packaged though and when the music is good then you're into a winner. Also you get videos on there sometimes which you can watch on your computer. That is excellent.
