It's been a while since we've had anything new on the Rocket Racer label but just in is a CD by Ignatius. I quite like this dude after hearing his first album last year. It reminds of me of early to mid period Aphex Twin stuff with rolling skittered beats and dark melodic sounds. It's a toughie to describe but if you like paced skittered but well formed electronica which doesn't really sound like anyone else then I'd defo check this out as it's pretty interesting stuff. Quite intense and repetitive but it gets you hooked... In an increasingly cluttered world of electronic music releases, it's becoming more rare to come across an artist that's pushing through boundries and helping develop the shape of things to come.
With a couple cd releases & 12" ep on a label started with friends, steve westbrook, aka ignatius has been making some fantastic electronic music under the radar for years. Hoping to shed some light on westbrook's talent, the release of gossamer showcases what we feel to be the freshest and best music he has produced thus far. With many dark textured shadows to hide in, subtle melodies wrap themselves around rolled out beats that seem to fold in on themselves and reappear with thunderous energy and grace. Ignatius has a gift for molding sheets of expansive terrain well worth discovering.
