Low - The Great Destroyer

The Great Destroyer by Low

4...according to our on Wed 29 Nov, 2006.

The Duluth rock behemoth Low have a new album out on Rough Trade. This time its produced by David Fridmann (Mercury Rev etc). I think you always have to give Low albums a  long while to grow on you. On first impression this seems as poppy a thing as they have ever done. It still sounds like Low though despite the use of increasingly noisy guitars. It kind of recalls Neil Young at times or the noisier exploits of Red House Painters and you can kind of imagine some of these songs being played on the radio - they are very immediate. Too immediate perhaps? As always time will tell...I'm pretty sure its a great album  - Low albums invariably are.
