What their label says...
‘City’ is the follow up album to Client’s self-titled, 2003 debut and features collaborations with Pete Doherty and Carl Barat of The Libertines and Martin Gore of Depeche Mode.
The album is written by Client and produced by Client and Joe Wilson (Sneaker Pimps, Trash Money).
Client are an up and coming female electro duo who formed on the road in 2002 whilst supporting Depeche Mode in Eastern Europe. Signed to Andy Fletcher’s record label, Toast Hawaii, their debut album was released in 2003. An exciting and enigmatic live act Client have toured extensively in the UK and in Europe as well performing dates in the US, Russia and Mexico. Preferring to be known simply as Client A and Client B, Client produce sexy and compelling electronica grounded in strong songwriting foundations.
The new album according to Client is “darker, bleaker and more lush”. Highlights include the song, ‘Radio’ which lyrically explores depression and musically recalls Joy Division with its hypnotic and compulsive layers of beats and keyboards as well as the single, ‘In It For The Money’, which is Client at their most acerbic and witty. An anthem for doomed youth, ‘Down To The Underground’, features a guest vocal performance from Pete Doherty. While ‘Pornography’ featuring Carl Barat of The Libertines is a sexy electro classic. Other highlights include the seductive and dark, ‘Overdrive’, featuring Martin Gore of Depeche Mode and the lush but also delicate, ‘One Day At A Time’.
