When are bands gonna do summat fresh? Why are Poptones signing all these two-bit chancers like The Paddingtons & now Thee Unstrung? Debut single, 'Contrary Mary', is hewn of the same tatty cloth as The Libertines. I.E. chantalong pub rock, slightly shambolic & rather derivative. Not to say it doesn't have flourishes of greatness I.E. the rather fabulous middle 8. But all in all not of any interest to anyone outside this incestuous & self-congratulating "scene" that nu-cool London has invented to feel better about It's non-existant musical heritage. Hmmmmn.  CD left....

About the humble CD single:

Another digital format and even though they can hold 80 minutes of information (like a CD album would) record companies only fill up a small portion of the disc. Sometimes only 1 or 2 tracks on there totalling 5 minutes or so. It's like going to a restaurant and getting a plate of food with 2 green beans on and wondering where the rest of your meal is. Sometimes they're lovingly packaged though and when the music is good then you're into a winner. Also you get videos on there sometimes which you can watch on your computer. That is excellent.
