 This record left our brian feeling happy.
!!! (chk chk chk) have their Warp sponsored new album out this
week & it's called "Louden Up Now". Now us 3 here at the towers
are unanimously unimpressed with this bunch of chancers. I think they did a
pretty nifty, scratchy new wave funk work-out ONCE. That is no excuse for this.
A blatant rip off of Liquid Liquid & (early) A Certain Ratio.
All cheesy triggered drum sounds, over indulgent percussion & chicken neck
funk. Ultimately pointless & rather soulless & empty (as re-iterated by
UncleClint (tm) in his review of the sampler 12") This bunch are routinely
adored by the smug London fashion set but we here think the song title
"Shit scheisse merde" sums them up quite aptly. If you believe the
hype you'll think this is the future of music but in a years time it will be
confined to the dusty bowels of your CD collection. Don't get me wrong, It's all
expertly executed, rhythmically astute & quite catchy in places plus you get
a free 4 track CD on initial pressings but if Dennis Young is
reading this, I'd get onto yer lawyer mate....
