Oceansize - Music For Nurses EP

Music For Nurses EP by Oceansize

Never quite "got" Oceansize. Obviously an immensely talented bunch of lads, but alongside spiritual travellers Biffy Clyro, this new single is cut of the same cloth as Muse & the long forgotten Dark Star in so much It aspires to be big, difficult & long winded progressive metal whilst still retaining a deft indie touch. Hmmmm. Not convinced. Too much angst & too many time changes. (mind, there's a really EITS-esque track later on for the post rock brigade) To be honest (& I'm gonna make an arse of mesen here) I'd much rather listen to the first Lost Prophets album. At least that had some proper POP moments on it. This sounds like they've been listening to too much Deftones & Tool for my liking. It's called 'Music For Nurses'. Don't nurses want to listen to something a bit lighter & prettier after a night stitching up fighting fuckwit pissheads on a Saturday night? Just wondering......
